Drakensberg Boys’ Choir Extravaganza
Whether you are rewarding staff for excellence, entertaining clients, embarking on a cultural building programme or simply needing a shot of world class South African entertainment, this is the show to see.
Fresh from their successful, sold out tour of Switzerland, Germany and Austria, this is the first time ever that the entire Drakensberg Boys’ Choir is performing in Jo’burg. Known for their musical excellence on six continents, the ‘Drakies’ are using this extravaganza – which will include appearances by some local schools – to fine tune their performance for the ‘World Choir Games’. The games are being held in South Africa (Tshwane) in July. Thousands of Choristers are expected.
The boys represent the full spectrum of South Africa and are equally adept in performing classical, pop and traditional African music. They epitomise cross-cultural team work and are a glowing example of what can be achieved when everyone’s talents are valued and forged into one ensemble. This alpine school has produced world class opera singers, classical and pop musicians, authors, actors, academics, Olympic medallists and South African sports champions.
Visiting American conductor Kenny Kabak recently described his time working with the choir as: “The best musical experience of my life.”
The Drakensberg Boys’ Choir will be performing at The Mandela at Joburg Theatre, on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at 6.30pm.
Tickets cost between R150 and R230 (discounts available for block booking).
